Certification for fair trade and responsible supply chains
Impact, special achievements & commitmentsThis project consists in the development of a fair trade model of free range eggs. They establish long-term relationships between small poultry producers, where they are trained and given technical assistance. The contracts for the partial purchase of eggs are established and the total of the food that consists of the Ecoterra formula is delivered. From this they reach a economically and environmentally sustainable model, which also is socially inclusive. The company has an innate philosophy of ethical work with its workers and has managed to transfer this to its associated producers. The company gives credit to its workers and producers before the egg production begins. The company is committed to the community taking its obligation for the fair trade premium to develop a support in time to the local community in sustainability issues. In addition, the company receives in its facilities, colleges, universities, farmers and others. They believe that they have managed to develop a successful model of fair trade, as yields have been achieved in producers over 10 % of the sale, reaching in some cases more than 20 %. In the case of the workers, they have managed to surpass the minimum wage and they also have a very pleasant work environment. As prospects for future improvements, their intention is to develop a fair trade plan where they can establish an operation structure to have a continuous improvement in which they can be a better company every day for those directly related but also be a means to support the community in which they are inserted. For this they work permanently in R & D to develop new and improved products that allow them to generate a greater demand for raw materials under the seal and be able to achieve a stronger impact on their community.
